Pablo Picasso is famous for being one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. He started Cubism, invented collage, and created many works of art with different mediums. He considered himself to be a painter first, but was also known for his drawings, printmaking, and sculptures. After World War II ended, Picasso went to live in the South of France where he began making his own pottery and painting colorful motifs on ceramic plates, dishes, and jugs. Creating these pieces gave him great joy and were among the first pieces he had created in years using bright, happy colors.
